Unlock Trapping

Trapping becomes available once the Savanna.png Savanna becomes available from Year 1 Spring, day 14. Interact with any Trap Spot on the Savanna to spark the Smoke Signal: It's a Trap. Then, talk to Okka.png Okka to immediately receive Crafting Instructions for the Box Trap.png Box Trap, Bird Trap.png Bird Trap, and Stone Trap.png Stone Trap.

Trap Spots in the Savanna

Trap Spot.png

In the Savanna.png Savanna are 10 spots where a trap can be set up.

They can be found where small footprints, lumps of dirt, broken sticks, and glowing lights are rising from on the ground.

This map of the Savanna highlights all the areas where a Trap Spot is:

Setting Traps

Trapping Set Trap.png

After Crafting any trap, find any of the Trap Spots scattered around the Savanna.png Savanna and interact while holding the trap you wish to place down. A mini-game will appear where a brown wheel appears around the trap. On the wheel are 3 colored squares, 2 yellow squares with a green square in between them. A white light circles through each square on the wheel, try to press exactly when the white light cycles on top of the green square. Matching exactly when the light is over a green square gives 2 points, while the yellow squares give 1 point, and completely missing will give no points.

The smaller bar above the wheel keeps score of how many points have been earned. There are only 4 tries to get points for setting a trap. As long as at least 1 point is gained then the trap will be set up. However, If all 4 times are all a miss, then the trap will fail setting and can be tried again.

A perfect set is where the light is matched to the green square 2 times in a row. A perfect set increases the amount of meat gained from the trap, shortens the time it takes to find meat in the trap, and also increases the chances of the meat found in the trap to be higher-quality.
