Jag is a member of the Pachan Clan.

About

Jag joined the Pachan clan when he was found alone in a forest as a child. His dark past has made fire very important to him, and he is devoted to protecting the fire for all of the clan. Even on festival days, Jag will stay to protect the fire even while the rest of the clan goes to enjoy the festivals.

Jag's Story

"Only a few people know the full story of how I joined the clan. My old clan was the Rallor, a people that valued so-called strength. But they were cruel. Young ones no older than Brah are sent out to the woods to survive a season. If they came back, they were deemed worthy of the clan. That was our rite of passage. My older brother was chosen to be my guide, so I followed him without question. After traveling in near silence for several days, I asked when he would teach me how to survive. He told me how pointless it was to teach someone so weak. That if I had any honor at all, I would die in the forest so I could at least be food for crows. That night I cried myself to sleep beside the fire. In the middle of the night, I woke up to an icy chill. The fire was gone, and so was my brother. I was alone in the dark. I wandered in the moonless night calling for help. Hopeless, I fell asleep beside a massive tree. The next morning I awoke to a small fire crackling beside me. I figured it was him. I stayed by that fire feeding it. Waiting for his return. As mean as he was, he was still my brother. One day after looking for roots to roast, I returned to find a gray-haired man looking at my fire. That’s when I met Vuak and learned that I was resting beside a Pacha Tree. It was the spirits who saved me and led Vuak to adopt me. Now I do my best to honor them. And the people I care about. Like you."

Ice Sliding

Ron - You’d never go sliding with us when you were little. Voda - Who doesn't like sliding? Jag - I've never tried. Reese - Now's your chance. It's so much fun. Jag - ... I'd look ridiculous. Reese [looking sympathetic] - Jag... [Garrek proceeds to slide down the hill backwards.] Garrek - You can’t look any more ridiculous than me. Jag - Alright. Would you join me, [player]? Jag [looking at the slope nervously] - On second thought… [The player has two options to encourage Jag, one is more understanding of his anxiety.] If the player chooses It’s okay if you don’t want to: Jag - Thank you. [Jag moves to try sliding.] Jag - I just sit? Garrek - And slide. [Jag slides down the hill.] Garrek - Wasn’t that fun? Jag - It was. Thanks for the encouragement. Garrek - That’s what friends should do. Jag - I need to do that again! [To player] Let’s slide together. Reese - You and [player] should slide more. The rest of us can get the food ready. Jag - Mind if we chat? Jag - There’s something I’ve been wanting to say. The clan has always been supportive. But it wasn’t until I told you my story that I started to feel… not so alone. You mean a lot to me. More than a friend a lot. [The player has the choice to start a relationship with Jag, or to remain friends.] If player chooses I want to date you too: Jag - I can’t tell you how happy that makes me. We should go join the others. Thanks for joining me.

Fishing and Dinner

Jag - It’s meditative watching the fish. Frer makes it look so easy. The player can choose between saying Patience is key or It takes practice. After choosing It takes practice: Jag - Maybe a lot of practice in my case. Ada tried to get me to learn to fish from Tetih as a kid. But she scared me then. Most people did. I’ve only ever… dated strangers at festivals. We’d have a great day together and then never think of each other again. No commitment. No need to get hurt. But it wasn't just people at festivals I kept my distance from. That is until you. I was drawn to you. But once I started looking into your eyes I couldn’t turn away. The player can choose to (Kiss him) or (Say nothing). If player chooses (Kiss him), the pair share a kiss, then: Jag - You never cease to amaze me. The clan has always been so good to me. Even if all I did was make sure we had light and no one was ever left alone. I don’t think I’ll ever get rid of the weight of my past. But it doesn't feel like it's too much to carry anymore.

Beach Dinner

[The player and Jag go for a dinner date on the beach.] Jag - The clan gives us so much, don't they? Like Ada with these beautiful flowers or Reese and her nicely made pots. Never asking for anything in return. I once feared the ocean. So deep and unknown. Before joining the clan life was just fear. After the earthquake trapped us, all I could think about was how vulnerable we were. We’d lose so much if someone attacked. Vuak would tell me to trust Pacha. I wanted to. I just couldn’t stop imagining the worst. I pushed everyone away because I was afraid of being hurt. But thinking I could lose anyone in the clan was terrifying. After I told you my story… I started having fun and worrying less. But there was one thing I still couldn’t say. But not anymore. I love you. Player can choose between I love you too and I’m sorry, I don’t feel the same. If the player chooses I love you too, the pair share a kiss, then: Jag - Our love burns brighter than any fire. I never feel lost when you’re around. Player can choose between Will you join me in a Union? or (Say nothing). If the player chooses Will you join me in a Union?: Jag - Yes! Of course! Where would you like to join? Player can now choose which location they wish to use for the Union ceremony, between the Forest, Beach, or Caves. Jag - Not living at the Hearth will be strange, but I’m ready to move on. Jag [excited] - There’s something I want to show you. There’s a reason I don’t start fires when anyone is around. [Jag uses a deft technique to light a small fire in seconds.] Jag - I’ve always known it was a gift to start fires so quickly. Player can choose between saying Why don’t you want anyone to watch? and That was amazing. If choosing Why don’t you want anyone to watch?: Jag - When I was young people treated it like a party trick at festivals. Always trying to get me to show off. But it felt wrong then. Showing you felt right. I can trust you with anything. — Notes: When speaking to Jag in the village again before the Union ceremony, he will say, “Our adventure together officially starts soon.”

Trivia

• He used to be part of another clan.
• He obviously has feelings for Voda as he says he doesn't want her to leave the Clan and he is blushing while saying that.
• He was not one of the original romanceable characters, Jag as a romance option has been added in a later update on the 29th June.
• Jag's name means "weak" in his old clan's language. In conversation, he tells you:
  "The leader gave it to me when I refused to steal food from a traveling family. I'm proud of my name. It took strength to do the right thing."
